Day 27: Great campground but racoons

Today was 68 km over rolling hills. I have been cycling nearly 4 weeks and my fitness doesn’t not seem to be improving. My average speed and number of kms is the same and I am still walking all the same types of hills that I was a few weeks ago. Guess it just takes more time and the body probably needs more than a day’s rest.
Today’s campground is a very fancy KOA campground. Cris, Fiona and the French Canadian are here. Is 10 USD which is pretty expensive by my new standards but you get access to unlimited showers and a pool and a Jucizzi. They even have game rooms and tennis courts and shit like this. So a bargain really. And everyone was telling me how expensive the USA would be…
The other tourers were saying how we are over developing our legs so they are doing push-ups and upper body stuff every day to compensate. So I have to do this now too?! Fucking pier pressure (IYKYK)
Hurt my foot jumping into the shallow end of the pool. Yes there were signs saying no diving. Yes I am stupid. Will just bruise a little and nothing serious tho. Mostly embarrassment.
Racoons are little shit heads. Have heard many stories but haven’t seen them myself until now. Tonight having the last beer before bed, we see two eyes sneaking up to one of the bikes. These little bastards with their little nimble hands can open zippers and panniers and clips. So we gathered anything that could remotely smell and locked it in the laundry room. The other problem is even if there is nothing that smells, the racoons might still open the zippers/clips to check anyway. So better to leave zippers open on the rest of your bags so they can do their inspection rather than have them rip open and damage the bags. Like I said, little shit heads. It should be good but we will know in the morning.
Tomorrow’s aim is a super basic campsite at Grestle campground / salt creek.
