Day 35: A day of flats

Day started much like any other with waking up. That is some next level insight that you can expect from me.
Had to pump my rear wheel before starting out. Not 10 km later, it was flat again so pumped it up again. 10km after this it was flat again so decided to swap out with a spare tube. 10km after this and it was flat again. That isn’t right but was close to a town so pumped it up again to get to town. 5 mins later it was flat.. So I decided to deal with this properly. Pulled off and did a tube patching session on the side of the road. Seems ok since.
On one of these roadside pump up sessions, a local cyclist pulled in to make sure I was ok. They suggested cycling through the mountains/valleys to get around big sur. Food for thought.
Can tell that Mexico is getting closer. Met a couple of people that only speak Spanish. One worked in a fresh coconut water roadside van. Was going to get one but then he said it was 10$ and no way I am paying that for coconut water so I just bought a coke instead.
Did 95 km today but was hard enough with all the punctures and was close to 6pm before I pulled into camp. John, an Irish gentleman, pulled into camp not long after me. He has been living here for a long time so could give great advice for getting around big sur. I did seriously consider winging another rough like the cyclist earlier suggested. But I decided to go with the train which I booked for Sunday.
That means tomorrow is a short 20ish km day and the following day will be an early start to get to the train on time.
