Day 42: Rest day in Santa Barbara + Bike upgrades
Not much rest happened during this rest day but I am pretty happy with what I got done.
Went to a bike shop this morning. Back wheel seems ok now. Had one reemergence of one puncture but just spinning the wheel seems to fix it. I have plugs but I’m not sure how to use them. If it reemerges once more then I will try the plugs. Am really happy to be getting the full tubeless experience now in the relative safety of the USA rather than the more remoteness of Baja.
Again any bike shops I asked for a service are booked out for 4+ days so no chance of service. Nothing in particular is wrong so instead I used an old toothbrush to give everything a good clean myself. I should really be doing this more often than I am.
Also managed to find a front rack so I got this and spent an hour sitting in front of the hostel installing it. Am really happy with the result. Although it will be hard to get panniers to suit, it is great extra storage even as is. Given all the new found space, I unpacked everything and repacked it to use the space better.
Haven’t checked the destination for tomorrow but will go with the book recommendations which should put me in LA on Sunday evening.
