Day 62: Cycling on the beach + the Baja 1000 race

Woke up very hungover. Breakfast and coffee at the restaurant/pub that we camped behind. Lazed around until 11ish and then the 3 of us decided to cycle the Baja divide route to the next town and watch the Baja 1000 race from somewhere there. Was only 8 km or so so it should be easy…
The entire day was on the beach. The first hour was exclusively pushing the bikes as it was impossible to cycle properly. Because the tide was in, the “path” that the GPX track told us to be on was under water at one part. So I had to push bikes under fences and hope that it cleared up further along.
After an hour of bike pushing, the sand became hard packed making it possible to cycle on. And we had a great tailwind. This was incredibly beautiful cycling on the beacch. Have a couple of videos, and will try to add them below.
Made it to the next town and we decided to check into a hotel that was pretty cheap.
Then cycled to a viewpoint to watch some of the Baja 1000 races. Those trophy trucks are incredible. But even being 30 meters away from the road was quite scary with these things going by at 100 miles an hour on dirt roads. So I moved up to a hill which felt safer and had better views.
The next 3 days should be interesting. There is no food resupply for these days and very limited water resupply. Guess I will have limited internet or coverage so the next couple of entries might be a few days late.
